The Pune Municipal Corporation will be constructing a flyover-cum-subway at the Shastrinagar Chowk in order to ease congestion, The Indian Express said. The project will cost Rs 97 crore and has been approved by the civic administration.

Local NCP MLA Sunil Tingre said that due to urbanisation and setting up of IT parks and commercial properties in the region, the traffic on the Ahmednagar Road has grown multifold.

The road is essential as a vital connection between the city and the northern region of the state.

According to the proposal, the subway will feature six lanes, with three lanes designated for travel to and from Kharadi. The flyover will run from Kharadi and Vimannagar to the Golf Club.

The project’s implementation was delayed due to the Union Archaeological Department granting clearance only in May of this year. In January, the civic body began constructing a flyover and grade separator at Ambedkar Junction on Alandi Road, within the Vadgaonsheri assembly area.

The Mukundrao Ambedkar Junction flyover on Alandi Road in Vishrantwadi will include a two-lane, unidirectional flyover and a two-lane, unidirectional grade separator. The estimated cost of the infrastructure project is Rs 110 crore.
