The Jan Shatabdi Express, operating from Una in Himachal Pradesh to Delhi, has resumed its service after a three-day suspension because of the ongoing farmers’ movement in Punjab and Haryana, according to officials, PTI reported.
On the contrary, the Railway Board has notified the cancellation of three passenger trains which start from Una. As a result, the reinstating of the Jan Shatabdi Express has brought a sigh of relief to passengers who are affected by the cancellations.
Trains which are cancelled:
According to a railway spokesperson, the cancelled passenger trains were scheduled to run on routes connecting Una-Saharanpur-Haridwar, Una Chandigarh -Ambala, Daulatpur Chowk-Amb-Andaura-Chandigarh-Ambala routes. These cancellation orders were announced because of the farmers’ protest, and all three trains will remain suspended until further notice.
The resumption of the Jan Shatabdi Express was confirmed by Rodash Singh, the Superintendent of Una Railway Station on Tuesday. He stated that the reason behind the delay in the arrival of trains in Una is because of farmers’ protests in recent days. He mentioned that Sabarmati Express was three hours late when it arrived at Una on Monday. The Jan Shatabdi Express left for Delhi via Una at 4:55 am, reported PTI.
As per media reports, several trains en route to Una have been cancelled and diverted because of the ongoing farmer’s protest.
