A major untoward incident was averted on Monday (October 2) thanks to the quick response of the alert crew aboard the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express.

The semi-high speed train averted an accident in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district as the loco pilot noticed an iron road and stones placed on its tracks and immediately stopped the train.

FIR registered

According to a North Western Railway (NWR) official, unidentified individuals made an attempt to disrupt the railway route. The official also informed that a FIR has been registered at the Gangrar police station in Chittorgarh in connection with this incident.

NWR Chief PRO Shashi Kiran said that the loco pilot of the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express alerted authorities that a two-foot-long rod, along with some ballast and stones, had been deliberately placed on the rail track between Gangrar and Soniyana. This section of the rail network falls under the jurisdiction of the Ajmer division of NWR and is located in Chittorgarh district.

Kiran added that the vigilant loco pilot promptly halted the train, removed the obstructions, and reported the incident to higher-ranking officials.

Officials conduct inspection at site

Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force officials conducted an inspection at the site, and they have indicated that strict action will be taken against those responsible for this act of sabotage.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Vande Bharat Express on this route on September 24. This incident occurred just prior to his scheduled address in Chittorgarh. A video depicting the obstruction on the tracks has been circulating on social media platforms.
