In response to concerns raised by Congress MP Gowaal Kagada Padavi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday about the travel options available for passengers from Nandurbar and Dhule seeking to travel to Pune.

Padavi had highlighted the difficulties faced by students and other passengers traveling from northern Maharashtra to Pune due to the lack of direct train services. He inquired whether the government had plans to provide direct train facilities from Nandurbar to Pune.

In his reply, Vaishnaw clarified that passengers from Nandurbar and Dhule can currently changeover at Jalgaon and Chalisgaon railway stations, respectively. He explained that Jalgaon is connected to Pune by 10 pairs of trains, while Chalisgaon is served by five pairs of trains. Passengers traveling from Nandurbar can use the services available from Jalgaon, and those from Dhule can avail of the connections from Chalisgaon.

Future Train Service Plans

Vaishnaw also emphasized that the introduction of new train services is an ongoing process within Indian Railways. This process depends on factors such as traffic justification, operational feasibility, and resource availability.

The minister’s response aims to address the current travel challenges and underscores the government’s commitment to improving rail connectivity and services.
