The Railway Board has approved a new bi-weekly train service connecting Goa and Maharashtra’s Konkan region from Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus. The train will commence its run on August 29. It is scheduled to begin its journey from Borivali which is considered a major station on the WR instead of Bandra Terminus.

New route announced for Goa trains

The introduction of this new route from Bandra Terminus to Goa is expected to benefit tourists who are staying in the Western suburbs of Mumbai. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the huge popularity of this coastal destination. Earlier, all the trains for Goa and the Konkan region were used to depart from the Central Railway stations.

Timetable and stoppage

The new service train will run with 20 Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) type coaches and is slated to leave from Madgaon, Goa every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:40 am and will arrive at Bandra Terminus at 11:40 PM. On the return journey, the train will depart from Bandra Terminus every Wednesday and Friday at 6:50 AM and will reach Madgaon at 10:00 PM. The train will have 13 stoppages in total including Ratnagiri, Panvel, Bhiwani Road, Vasai Road, and Borivali.

According to Western Railways official, the launch of the new train service will provide a convenient alternative route for passengers but it may impact the punctuality of the other trains. The reason is because of an absence of a dedicated cord line which will require a change in direction at Vasai Road.

The Mumbai-Goa train service promises to provide enhanced safety, comfort, and a seamless travel experience for the passengers.
