The Central Railway on Sunday (June 2) announced that it has successfully completed the widening of platforms 5 and 6 at Thane station. The CR provided details about the special block implemented for this infrastructure upgrade, stating that the platforms have been widened by 2-3 meters over a length of 587 meters.

The 63-hour mega block was initiated at Thane railway station, alongside a 36-hour special block at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. This mega block commenced at midnight on May 30-31 (Thursday-Friday night).

Train cancellations on Mumbai route

The platform widening project utilized 750 pre-cast hollow blocks and involved the coordination of 400 workers, 20 teams, and 10 contractors, according to a CR official. During the 63-hour period, a total of 935 trains were canceled on the route.
