Several long-distance trains were diverted, rescheduled or short-terminated today, July 7, in Mumbai between Kalyan and Kasara stations due to waterlogging amid heavy rainfall, Central Railway officials said.

Let’s take a look at which trains were rescheduled.

The Central Railway officials said that the trains which were rescheduled include 16345 LTT-Thiruvananthapuram Express, 12289 CSMT-Nagpur Duronto Express and 12145 LTT-Puri SF Express.

Meanwhile, train services between Kalyan and Kasara, which were disrupted in the morning due to heavy rainfall, have been restored with restricted speeds.

At approximately 6:30 am, soil covered the tracks between Atgaon and Thansit stations, and a fallen tree blocked the tracks near Vashind station, causing disruptions to rail traffic on the busy route, officials reported earlier.

“Train services between Kasara and Titwala have been suspended temporarily,” a CR spokesperson had said.

Another CR spokesperson mentioned that an overhead equipment (OHE) pole tilted, causing the pantograph of a train to become entangled near Vashind.

Suburban services are considered the lifeline of Mumbai and its neighboring areas, including Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, with more than 3 million commuters traveling daily on the CR’s suburban network.
