Train services were restored at 12:40 am after a suburban train derailed at Kalyan station in Thane district on Friday night, causing disruptions on Central Railway’s mainline. The Titwala-CSMT train derailed around 9 pm while entering platform number 2, but no injuries were reported.

No Injuries Reported in Kalyan Incident

“There is a Derailment of Local Train at Kalyan station. No injury to any passengers. Efforts to restore the services are underway”, Mumbai division of Central Railway tweeted on twitter.

As a result of the derailment, several suburban trains were delayed, leading to inconvenience for passengers during the late evening hours. The Mumbai division of Central Railway addressed the disruption on social media platform X, informing passengers, “Due to technical issue, mainline services are running behind schedule. Inconvenience is regretted.”

Kalyan station, one of the busiest junctions on Central Railway, plays a crucial role in handling both suburban and long-distance trains. The disruption affected a large number of commuters traveling through the station.

However, swift action by railway authorities ensured that services were restored at 12:40 AM, minimizing further inconvenience. The railway authorities have urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly, as services have resumed normal operations.
