The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has opened a Track Slab Manufacturing Facility (TSMF) at Gujarat’s Anand. This new TSMF will produce track slabs required for the construction of ballastless track works for Mumbai –Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR).
The facility is spread over an area of 1 lakh square metre and houses state-of-the-art technology to manufacture track slabs for 116-km-long double line High Speed Rail track for MAHSR Corridor.
Production capacity of Anand’s Track Slab Manufacturing Facility:-
The Track Slab Manufacturing Facility will produce 45,000 precast track slabs required for the MAHSR project. 60 high-precision moulds have been procured and installed in the facility which can produce 60 track slabs per day. Around 200 track slabs are required per track kilometre. It can store up to 9000 track slabs to facilitate installation of track seamlessly.
Fully Automated Facility
This Track Slab Manufacturing Facility is fully automated with a Concrete Distribution System. The NHSRCL has used various ancillary facilities to support the production of track slabs such as use of fully automated rebar processing machines, Rebar Yard for cage fabrication, RO plant, Boiler plant, Curing ponds, Electric overhead travelling (EOT) cranes, Gantry Cranes, etc.
Second Track Slab Production Facility
The NHSRCL is also setting up another track slab manufacturing facility at Kim Village near Surat district in Gujarat. It will produce track slab construction for 236 km of MAHSR corridor in Gujarat.
Boost to ‘Make in India’ initiative
The construction of a ballastless track slab manufacturing unit has given an impetus to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. The MAHSR project focuses on promotion of two key drivers: ‘Make in India’ and ‘Transfer of Technology’. This will generate new jobs, upgrade the skills of youths, and will also give a boost to allied industries such as steel, cement, electrical components and infrastructure.
