Several train services were impacted due to dense fog in Delhi-NCR. According to a statement issued by the Indian Railways, a total of 26 trains arrived late in the national capital due to dense fog on Thursday (January 4) morning.
Due to the foggy conditions, train operations were hit in the Delhi-NCR region and other northern states due to low visibility.
Dense fog, cold wave conditions to prevail
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the cold wave continues to tightened its grip over Delhi-NCR. The region recorded the minimum temperature of 7.3 degrees today morning, while the maximum temperature is expected to settle around 15 degrees.
The Met Office also added that the national capital will continue to reel under foggy conditions for the next two days, after which it is likely to decrease. It also informed that cold wave conditions are likely to persist for the next 2-3 days in Delhi and nearby region.
Additionally, several other northern states including Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Bihar are reeling under dense fog, while Madhya Pradesh, Tripura and Jammu saw moderate fog today morning.
Low visibility due to foggy conditions
Widespread dense fog resulted in low visibility in several regions. Delhi’s Safdarjung recorded a visibility level of 500 meters, Palam at 700 meters. In Rajasthan, visibility levels were reported at Bikaner-25 meters, Jaisalmer-50 meters, Kota-50 meters, and Jaipur-50 meters. Bihar experienced Gaya with 25 meters, Purnea with 25 meters, and Patna with 200 meters visibility.
