South Western Railway on Wednesday (August 14) announced that it had resumed services on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route from today, following the restoration of the track affected by landslips between Ballupet and Sakleshpur.

Train services on this sector had been halted after landslips disrupted the track in the early hours of August 10. Officials reported that three overnight trains operating between Bengaluru and Mangaluru/Karwar had to be short-terminated due to the track damage.

Fresh landslides complicated track repairs

The restoration efforts faced delays as additional landslides occurred along the same stretch. Services had already been impacted from July 26 to August 9 due to landslips between Yadakumari and Kadagaravalli stations on the Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat section.

Despite the initial restoration work, fresh landslips shortly after posed further challenges. However, South Western Railway confirmed that the track is now fully restored and services will recommence as scheduled.
