The dense fog conditions shrouded parts of northern India, disrupting train operations to and from the national capital on Thursday (January 25).

The Indian Railways trains were delayed owing to the poor visibility, which caused significant inconvenience for passengers. The arrival of several passenger trains in Delhi encountered delays for many hours.

Twenty-four Delhi-bound trains are running late, exacerbating the challenges posed by the prevailing weather conditions across various parts of the country. Travelers faced prolonged waiting times and disruptions as transportation services grappled with the adverse effects of the dense fog.

IMD issues orange alert in Delhi

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ for dense fog at isolated places in Delhi for Thursday.

Notably, Delhi’s temperature dipped to 4.8 degrees Celsius, and an orange alert was issued for dense fog in the national capital.

Delhiites woke up to a cold and foggy morning as the minimum temperature in the national capital on Thursday dipped to 4.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average, the weather department said.

As per IMD, Delhi has experienced five cold days and five cold wave days in January so far, the highest in the past 13 years.
