The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a substantial Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for over 11.72 lakh railway employees, amounting to Rs 2,028.57 crore. This initiative, aimed at rewarding the hard work and dedication of non-gazetted railway staff, includes various roles such as track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers, station masters, and other Group C employees.

Bonus to Enhance Festive Celebrations

Each eligible employee will receive a maximum bonus of Rs 17,951, reflecting 78 days’ worth of wages. This bonus is traditionally disbursed ahead of the Durga Puja and Dussehra festivities, allowing employees to enjoy the celebrations with added financial support.

The Cabinet emphasized that the PLB serves as an incentive, motivating railway personnel to enhance the performance and efficiency of the Railways. The railway sector has showcased exceptional performance in the 2023-24 financial year, achieving record milestones such as transporting approximately 6.7 billion passengers and loading 1,588 million tonnes of cargo.

This remarkable achievement has been attributed to significant improvements in infrastructure, efficient operations, and the adoption of better technology, all supported by record capital expenditure from the government. The PLB not only recognizes the efforts of railway employees but also encourages them to continue striving for excellence in their roles.

As the railway employees prepare to receive their bonuses, the government reiterates its commitment to fostering a motivated and high-performing workforce in the Indian Railways.
