A major accident had taken place in Tamil Nadu where an express train from Mysore to Darbhanga via Perambur has collided with a stationary train at Kavarapettai railway station. According to Railway Police, several people feared to be injured because of the collision. The impact of the collision has resulted in a fire and has further escalated the situation. The situation has currently been assessed by the authorities. All the emergency services have been sent to the accident site. As per the latest information from the Tamil Nadu police, six coaches have been derailed. Rescue teams along with the ambulances are on the way. No casualties have been reported so far, as per the Ministry of Railways. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has expressed shocked over the accident and has mentioned that he is monitoring the rescue and relief works.
The Railway Board Executive Director of Information & Publicity, Dilip Kumar while talking to ANI stated that they have received the information related to the accident of 12578 Bagmati Express which runs from Mumbai to Darbhanga has met with an accident. All the rescue and relief work is currently going on. All the passengers from the train were safely taken out of the train and no one was reported to be seriously injured. Food arrangements for the passengers will be made available by the railways and special arrangements will be made for the passengers for onward journey. The coaches which are been damaged are been removed from the tracks.
The passengers of train No.12578 (MSY-DBG) experienced heavy jerks when the train’s six coaches entered into a loop line and collided with a stationary good train. The GM of Southern Railway DRM Chennai division along with senior officers are about to reach the spot. The Chennai railway division has released helpline numbers.
