The Dhanbad-Chandrapura passenger train is poised to recommence operations on January 10 after a hiatus of nearly seven years. The announcement was made by Amresh Kumar, the senior divisional commercial manager of Dhanbad Rail Division.
The decision to reinstate the train services has received official approval, marking a positive step for commuters between Dhanbad and Bokaro districts. The Dhanbad-Chandrapura passenger train is scheduled to operate six days a week, providing an essential link between the two districts.
Why were train services suspended?
The resumption comes after the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) recommended the suspension of train services on June 15, 2017, due to the potential risk of fire under the tracks along the route. At that time, a total of 26 passenger and express trains were suspended on this route.
Despite the track being reopened for movement in 2019, the Dhanbad-Chandrapura passenger train remained excluded from the list of restored services.
Enhancing connectivity and convenience
Now, with the recent approval, this key passenger train will once again become operational, enhancing connectivity and convenience for the local population.
Expressing satisfaction over the decision, Dhanbad Sadar MLA Raj Sinha said, “Finally, our efforts to restart operations of the Dhanbad-Chandrapura passenger train yielded results.” The resumption of this train service is expected to bring relief and convenience to the regular commuters who have been eagerly awaiting its reinstatement.
As the railway authorities gear up for the relaunch, the recommencement of the Dhanbad-Chandrapura passenger train stands as a positive development for the region, facilitating efficient travel and contributing to the overall connectivity of the railway network.
