The Dadar-Porbandar Saurashtra Express derailed on Tuesday, December 24, at Kim station, located near Surat in Gujarat. The incident occurred at approximately 3:32 PM as the train was departing from the station. 

At least four wheels of a non-passenger coach (VPU), positioned directly behind the engine, went off the tracks. Fortunately, no injuries to passengers or railway staff have been reported so far, according to railway officials who shared the information with PTI.

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Western Railway confirmed that senior officers and technical teams promptly reached the site to oversee the restoration process, which is currently underway. Despite the derailment, train services in the area remain unaffected.

“There is no injury or harm to any onboard passengers or railway staff. The movement of trains is not affected,” the CPRO reassured.

The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined. Authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain the factors that led to the incident. Additionally, the number of passengers aboard the train at the time of the derailment has not yet been disclosed.
