Indian Railways is undergoing a transformation with plans to revamp more than 550 railway stations across 27 states and 300 districts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 26 unveiled 2,000 rail infrastructure projects worth about Rs 41,000 crore under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. “Amrit Bharat Station will introduce the specialities of that city to the world,” said the Prime Minister. These stations will prioritise accessibility for Divyang and senior citizens.
PM Modi informed that the design of Baleshwar Station in Odisha draws inspiration from the Bhagwan Jagannath Temple, while Sikkim’s Rangpur station reflects local architecture. Sangner station in Rajasthan showcases 16th-century hand-block printing, the Kumbakonam station in Tamil Nadu reflects Chola influence, and Ahmedabad Station takes inspiration from Modhera Surya Mandir. The design of Dwarka Station is influenced by the Dwarkadheesh Temple, and the IT City Gurugram station is themed around Information Technology.
Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Uttar Pradesh leads with the highest count of 73 stations, followed by Maharashtra with 56 stations, and Gujarat with 33 stations. Additionally, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh both have 33 stations, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan each have 21 stations, Jharkhand boasts 27 stations, Haryana has 15 stations, while Punjab and Uttarakhand each have three stations. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have one station each scheduled for redevelopment. Here is the complete list of stations covered under the station redevelopment scheme –
Redevelopment of 74 railway stations in Uttar Pradesh
A total of 74 railway stations will undergo renovation and 267 roads over bridges and underpasses will be built in Uttar Pradesh under the scheme. Redevelopment of 56 rail stations in Maharashtra
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the redevelopment of 56 railway stations and the construction of 192 overbridges and underground passes will take place in Maharashtra. The stations included in this initiative are Kurla, Mumbra, Diva, Vidyavihar, Byculla, Sandhurst Road, Chinchpokli, Itwari, Kamptee, Amgaon, Bhandara Road, Shahad, Titwala, Igatpuri, Tumsar Road, Vadala Road, Matunga, Wadsa, Chanda Fort, Gondia, among others.
Redevelopment of 46 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh
The Prime Minister initiated the foundation stone laying for the redevelopment of 46 railway stations and also inaugurated AND dedicated to the nation 84 road overbridges/underpasses in Andhra Pradesh under ABSS. These stations are – Anantapur, Bobbili Jn, Parvathipuram, Sri Kalahasti, among others.
Redevelopment of 46 railway stations in Gujarat
The foundation stone for the redevelopment of 46 railway stations in Gujarat was laid on February 26 by the PM Modi. He also laid the foundation stone of 135 Road Over Bridges/Underpasses was laid, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation. Some of these stations are Ahemdabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar and others.
Redevelopment of 45 rail stations in West Bengal
PM inaugurated the commencement of redevelopment projects for 45 railway stations in the southern regions of West Bengal through the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Within this initiative, foundation stones were laid for 22 stations under the jurisdiction of the South Eastern Railway and 23 stations under the Eastern Railway. Notable stations on the list include Bandel, Kharagpur Junction, Adra, Purulia, Panagarh, Jangipur, Chandannagar, Bankura, Naihati, and Dumdum.

PM Modi initiated the foundation stone laying for the redevelopment of 34 railway stations and also laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation 121 road overbridges or underpasses in Tamil Nadu. Reportedly, these stations are Chennai Beach, Chennai Park, St Thomas Mount, Mambalam, Beach, Park, Ambattur, Guindy, Mambalam, Mettupalayam, Coimbatore North, Erode, Morappur, Dindigul, Tuticorin, Tiruchendur, Mayiladuturai, Kumbakonam, Vriddhachalam and more.
Redevelopment of 33 railway stations in Bihar
The Prime Minister also laid the groundwork for the redevelopment of 33 railway stations and the construction of 72 additional projects in Bihar within the East Central Railway (ECR) zone. Specifically, the Samastipur division is set to witness the redevelopment of nine railway stations. The 33 station to undergo redevelopment are – Barauni, Siwan, Munger, Thawe, Sabaur, Arariya, Shivnarayanpur, Dauram Madhepura, Dehri On Sone, Guraru, Karhagola Rd, Chausa, Laheria Sarai, Banka, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Supaul, Nawadah, Raxaul, Motipur, Luckeesarai, Masrakh, Rafiganj, Mairwa, Piro, Bikramganj, Labha, Janakpur Road, Chakia, Nabinagar Road, Ghorasshan, Salmari, Ekma and Shahpur Patoree
Redevelopment of 33 railway stations in Madhya Pradesh
In the heart of the country, Madhya Pradesh, the Indian Railways is all set to redevelop a total of 33 railway stations under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations are – Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Bina, Datia, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur, Bijuri, Mandla Fort, Balaghat, Nainpur, Chhindwara and Seoni, Nagda, Khachrod, Rupeta among others. The Indore railway station is set to undergo transformation into a world-class facility, featuring amenities akin to an airport. The project, estimated at Rs 492 crore, is slated for completion within 42 months.

Prime Minister Modi initiated the foundation stone laying for the redevelopment of 31 railway stations and also laid the foundation stone/inaugurated and dedicated to the nation 25 road overbridges and underpasses in Karnataka. These stations are Vijayapura, Raichur, among others.
Redevelopment of 27 railway stations in Jharkhand
The revamping of 27 railway stations in Jharkhand is underway, with a total investment of Rs 682 crore. Notably, the Tatanagar station in Jamshedpur has secured the highest funding of Rs 334.79 crore among them. The stations in focus include Chaibasa, Dongaposi, Barajamda, and Tatanagar.
Redevelopment of 21 train stations in Chhattisgarh
The redevelopment initiative will cover 21 stations and 83 road over/under bridges in Chhattisgarh. Notably, the entire rail network in Chhattisgarh has been electrified. Over the past decade, the state’s rail infrastructure has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding by an average of 162 kilometers annually—a stark contrast to the developments between 2009 and 2014. The stations set for redevelopment include Korba, Raigarh, Rajnandgaon, Sarona, Bhatapara, Dongargarh, Bhilainagar, Hathbandh, Bilha, Baikunthpur Road, Ambikapur, Uslapur, Pendraroad, Janjgir Naila, Champa, Baradwar, Dallirajhra, Bhanupratappur, Nipania, Mandirhasaud, and Bhilai.
Redevelopment of 21 railway stations in Rajasthan
In the desert state, as many as 21 railway stations will be redeveloped along with 112 road over bridges and underpasses. These stations are – Ajmer Junction, Pali Marwar, Sanganer, Beawar, Fatehnagar, Jawai Dam, Rani, Somesar, Gogamedi, Raisingh Nagar, Dausa, Fatehpur Shekhawati, Khairthal, Neem Ka Thana, Rajgarh, Deeg, Dholpur, Govindgarh, Khedli, Bundi, and Jhalawar City.
Redevelopment of 21 railway stations in Odisha
Odisha is set to witness the implementation of 73 railway infrastructure projects valued at Rs 2,320 crore. Among these, 21 railway stations within the state are slated for redevelopment under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,’ with an allocated budget of Rs 900 crore. Additionally, the construction of 53 road overbridges and road underbridges is planned at a cost of Rs 1,420 crore. These stations are – Baleswar, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda Road, Titlagarh Junction, Rayagada, Koraput Junction, Jeypore, Paradeep, Bhadrak, Belpahar, Brajarajnagar and others.
Redevelopment of 15 railway stations in Telangana
Prime Minister Modi initiated the foundation stone laying for the redevelopment of 15 railway stations and also laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation 48 road overbridges or underpasses in Telangana at a cost of Rs 230 crore. Some of these stations are Shadnagar, Jadcherla, Gadwal, Warangal and more.
Redevelopment of 15 railway stations in Haryana
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 15railway stations in Haryana will undergo redevelopment, including Gurugram, Faridabad Town. Reportedly, the other seven railway stations included in ABSS are Hisar, Sirsa, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, Rewari and Mahendragarh.
Redevelopment of 11 railway stations in Assam
PM Modi initiated the foundation stone laying ceremony for the redevelopment of 11 railway stations and also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation six road overbridges/underpasses in Assam. These stations are – Haibargaon, Gohpur, Harmuti, Majbat, Pathsala, Tangla, Udalguri, Biswanath Chariali, Murkongselek, North Lakhimpur, and Silapathar.

Under the station redevelopment scheme, PM laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 10 Railway stations along with the Nation 51 Road over Bridges/Underpasses in Kerala.
Redevelopment of 3 railway stations in Punjab
PM Modi laid the foundation stone of three railway stations, namely Beas, Jalandhar city and Moga. These stations are set to be redeveloped under Centre’s Amrit Bharat station scheme. He also laid the foundation stone of 12 Road Over Bridges/Underpasses.
Redevelopment of 3 railway stations in Uttarakhand
The foundation has been set for the redevelopment of three railway stations in Uttarakhand. On Monday, foundation stones were laid for the redevelopment of Kotdwar, Tanakpur, and Kashipur railway stations, with a total cost exceeding Rs 40 crore.

The prime minister laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 2 Railway stations along with laid the foundation stone, Inaugurated and dedicated to the Nation 5 Road over Bridges/Underpasses in Goa.
Redevelopment of 1 railway station in Delhi
PM Modi yersterday laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Tilak Bridge Railway Station in Delhi. Additionally, he initiated the foundation stone laying for three road overbridges/underpasses.
Redevelopment of 1 railway station in Jammu
Modi marked the occasion by laying the foundation stone of Mata Vaishno Devi railway station, inaugurating, and dedicating 1,500 road overbridges and underpasses to the nation, including one in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with a cost of Rs 49 crore.
Redevelopment of 1 railway station in Tripura
An amount of Rs 96.60 crore will be allocated for the redevelopment of Agartala railway station in the northeastern state.
Redevelopment of 1 railway station in Sikkim
PM Modi inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for Sikkim’s inaugural railway station in Rangpo. This station will be integral to the ongoing construction of a 45-km rail line connecting Sevoke near Siliguri in West Bengal to Rangpo in Sikkim, featuring 14 tunnels and 22 bridges.
