An Indian professional recently shared his wife’s successful B1 visa journey on Reddit, offering valuable insight into navigating the US visa process from Delhi—especially for corporate employees looking to attend meetings abroad.
According to the post, the woman, employed at a leading multinational company, received an invitation to attend a business meeting at her US office scheduled for November 2025. Although participation in the meeting was not mandatory, she was keen on making the trip, which was fully sponsored by her employer.
Despite the ongoing delays in appointment availability—some stretching to over a year and a half—the couple managed to secure an early slot with the help of an agent. “We were unable to fetch an appointment date, but an agent got us one within two days,” the Redditor wrote, adding, “I don’t know what these guys know that we don’t.”
The biometric appointment went smoothly and was completed in just 15 minutes. The visa interview at the US Embassy in Delhi, however, was more rigorous. After waiting nearly an hour in line, she faced key questions from the consular officer, including the purpose of the visit, her job details, and—crucially—why the meeting couldn’t be held over Zoom.
The Redditor noted that this question was likely a “make-or-break” moment. “If you’re asked this and can convincingly answer, you’ll get your visa,” he said. Fortunately, his wife did, and the visa status was updated to “Issued” the very next day.
Although they weren’t aware of the express delivery option for passport return and had to collect it in person, the overall experience was described as “super smooth.”
The Reddit user offered key takeaways for other applicants: stay confident, speak the truth, and carry all required documents—even if not explicitly asked for. His post has since drawn attention for its clarity and reassurance for professionals looking to travel for work.
The experience highlights how preparation, honesty, and a little external help can go a long way in clearing one of the most sought-after business travel approvals.
