The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to commence passenger services on the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension section of the Magenta Line on Sunday, marking the first operational segment under its ambitious Phase-IV network. Services will begin at 3 pm on January 5, 2025.

The Krishna Park Extension Station expands the Delhi Metro network to 289 stations, covering a total distance of 394.448 kilometers. This new segment extends the existing Botanical Garden–Janakpuri West route on the Magenta Line, improving connectivity for commuters in the surrounding areas.

Initially, trains between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension will run every 16 minutes. With this addition, the Magenta Line now stretches approximately 40 kilometers. The remaining extension from Krishna Park Extension to RK Ashram Marg is scheduled for completion in phases by 2026.

PM Modi to inaugurate new section

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension section on Sunday. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the 26.5-kilometer-long Rithala–Narela–Kundli Metro corridor, another crucial project under Phase-IV.

The new corridor is expected to boost connectivity to outer Delhi and adjoining areas in Haryana’s Sonipat district, facilitating smoother travel and fostering regional development.

As work progresses on other corridors under Phase-IV, the DMRC continues to expand its reach, reinforcing its position as one of the largest metro networks globally.
