In a bid to enhance passenger convenience, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a ‘check-in & baggage-drop’ service for international flights at New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium metro stations on the Airport Express Line.

This collaborative effort with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Air India, and Vistara Airlines enables international travellers to check-in and drop off their baggage at the metro stations, making their travel experience more convenient and streamlined.

Expanded convenience for international travellers

Previously available only to domestic passengers, this service now allows international travellers flying with Air India and Vistara Airlines to check in their luggage at metro stations. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has invited more airlines to join this initiative, aiming to further benefit travelers.

Passengers can check in their luggage at New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium metro stations, where it will be securely transported to the aircraft using advanced automated systems. This service eliminates the need for passengers to carry their luggage through the airport, simplifying their travel experience.

Air India passengers can use the check-in service at New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium metro stations from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vistara Airlines passengers can use the service at New Delhi metro station from 6 am to 8 pm daily.

For international flights, passengers can complete their check-in between four and three hours prior to departure. For domestic flights, check-in can be done between 12 and two hours before the flight departure time.

At New Delhi Metro Station, airline check-in counters are located at the concourse level. At Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, airline check-in counters are situated adjacent to the VFS Global Office at the concourse level.

The new service has already seen encouraging participation from passengers who appreciate the convenience of checking in their luggage at the metro stations. This initiative is part of DMRC’s ongoing commitment to exploring innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of its passengers.

Launched in the first week of June, this service aims to streamline travel procedures for international passengers departing from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi. DMRC is thrilled with the positive feedback and is dedicated to continually exploring innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of its passengers.
