Taking infrastructural survey to a notch higher, India’s first Neo Metro system’s Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) corridor will be surveyed by hi-tech drones.

The Uttarakhand Metro Rail Project has awarded IG Drones, a drone tech and analytics company, to survey the upcoming rail metro project, which can track project progress in real-time.

Equipped with advanced sensor capabilities, these drones can capture high-resolution images, videos, and additional data from the ground. The collected data is then processed through IG One, a proprietary software, which offers in-depth technical insights and analytics. Notably, these analytics enable real-time tracking of the project’s progress.

“Surveying a metro rail project in such tough terrain is a challenging task in itself but we have the latest drone technology and software to monitor such projects in detail. Leveraging sophisticated drone technology, our company will furnish comprehensive technical insights and analytics to government officials and regulatory bodies, facilitating real-time project tracking and enhancing safety and security measures,” Founder and CEO of IG Drones, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya said.

With rapid advancement in technology, drones are increasingly prevalent in infrastructure projects these days, which are valued for their efficiency, precision, and cost-effectiveness. The use of drones not only reduces the reliance on manual labor but also results in significant time and cost savings.

Their applications extend to surveying construction progress, assessing work quality, and identifying potential issues during the construction phase, a communique mentioned.

Connecting Uttarakhand with state-of-art project

The state-of-the-art rapid transit system, Neo Metro project is aimed to connect major cities of Uttarakhand including Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh within the next four years to ease traffic congestion.

The Personalized Rapid Transit Corridor is being developed under the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) that will link three cities. An initiative by the Government of Uttarakhand, the PRT corridor project is expected to be completed by 2024. The project seeks to offer world-class and state-of-the-art commuting.

In March 2023, IG Drones bagged the contract to survey the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.
