The Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) has got the approval to acquire land for the development of a new township known as ‘Mountain City’. According to PTI, the town will be situated near Jubbar-Hatti Airport in Shimla suburbs. This initiative aims to tackle the problem of congestion in the state capital while also promoting economic growth and employment opportunities.

Cost of Creating an Ultra-Modern City

The ‘Mountain City’ project is poised to transform Shimla. The project once completed will offer an ultra-modern city equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure and advanced seismic technology. The estimated cost for this ambitious undertaking is approximately Rs 1,373 crore, as per an official statement.

One-Time Settlement Policy for Allottees

In a bid to assist allottees across the state who have faced disputes regarding payment dues, the Board of Directors has approved a one-time settlement (OTS) policy. This policy provides an opportunity for individuals to resolve long-pending payment issues at a significantly reduced rate. The move not only relieves financial burdens on the public but also consolidates resources for HIMUDA’s reinvestment into projects for the benefit of the community.

Regularising of Attics in buildings

During the 52nd meeting of the Board of Directors (BoD) of HIMUDA, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu issued directions to make provisions for the regularization of attics in buildings under the One Time Settlement Policy. Additionally, the policy will be updated to align with decisions made by the state government concerning attics in buildings.

Leveraging Modern Construction Techniques and Technology

The CM has emphasized the significance of adopting the latest construction techniques and leveraging information technology platforms to enhance HIMUDA’s presence and service delivery to the public. The adoption of electronic measurement books (e-MBs) was recommended to streamline record-keeping and reduce reliance on physical documentation. Furthermore, the implementation of the e-tendering system, following the latest government guidelines, was also urged to expedite the tendering process.

Promoting Innovation and Capacity Building

Sukhu encouraged HIMUDA to operate competitively, embark on innovative initiatives in its projects, enhance the sizes and user-friendliness of flats, and organize exposure visits for employees to facilitate capacity building.
