Metro update: In preparation for the increased footfall during Ganeshotsav, Pune Metro has announced extended service hours and increased frequency to accommodate the surge in passengers. From September 7 to 9, Metro services will run from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The service hours will be extended further from September 10 to 16, operating from 6:00 AM to midnight. On the final day, September 17, the Metro will run continuously for 24 hours, from 6:00 AM on September 17 to 6:00 AM on September 18.

Encouraging Digital Ticketing

To enhance convenience and manage the anticipated high passenger volume, Pune Metro is encouraging the use of digital ticketing options, including the Pune Metro mobile app and WhatsApp ticketing, to minimize queues and crowding at ticket counters.

Additional Bus Services by PMPML

In addition to the Metro’s extended hours, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced the deployment of 800 additional buses in two phases to support the Ganeshotsav celebrations. The special “Yatra” services will help manage the transportation needs during this busy period. Satish Gate, the public relations officer of PMPML, stated that while the Yatra special buses will operate as planned, fares for buses running during the second shift will be increased by Rs 5. Additionally, passes will not be valid on these buses post-midnight.

Traffic Management Measures

To address potential traffic congestion in central Pune, vehicles will be diverted to alternate routes. The first phase of the bus deployment will include 168 buses operating on September 9, 10, and 16, with an additional 620 buses added between September 11 and 15.
