Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) on Monday (May 20) announced that over 1,13,000 people took advantage of the special 10 per cent discount on ticket fares offered for election day. 

According to an MMMOCL spokesperson, a total of 113,414 passengers traveled on Metro Line 2A, which runs between Andheri West and Dahisar East, and Metro Line 7, which operates between Dahisar East and Andheri East, by 5 PM on election day.

Maha metro encourages voter turnout

This discount was aimed at encouraging voter turnout during the fifth and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. The six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai were up for election on Monday, and the discount initiative was part of MMMOCL’s efforts to boost voter participation.

Mumbai Metro Line 12 update 

Mumbai Metro Line 12 will connect a series of strategically located stations, enhancing connectivity across the region. The Mumbai Metro Line 12 is pegged at Rs 5,865 crore. The line starts at Kalyan APMC and proceeds to Kalyan, followed by Ganesh Nagar (Kalyan) and Pisavali Gaon. It continues through Golavali, Dombivali MIDC, and Sagaon, reaching Sonarpada and Manpada. 

The route includes Hedutane and Kole Gaon, before arriving at Nilje Gaon. It then progresses to Vadavali, Bale, and Waklan, moving towards Turbhe and Pisarve Depot. The line also covers Pisarve and culminates at Amandoot (Taloja), ensuring comprehensive coverage and improved accessibility for commuters in these areas.
