Metro Railway services on the Blue Line between Dakshineswar and Dumdum stations were halted for over 40 minutes on Saturday (August 17) due to a technical issue with the signal point system, an official reported.
A Kolkata Metro spokesperson confirmed that services on the Dumdum-New Garia (Kavi Subhas) section continued as usual during this period.
The Blue Line includes four stations in the northern part of Kolkata, including Dumdum. The Blue Line corridor stretches from the northern tip of Dakshineswar to the southern end at New Garia (Kavi Subhas), linking the city’s extremities.
Disruptions due to signal point problem
Normal operations resumed at 1:45 pm after the technical issue was resolved.
The spokesperson explained that the disruption, caused by a signal point problem starting at 1 pm, led to a temporary suspension of services between Dakshineswar and Dumdum.
The Engineering and Signal and Telecom Departments promptly addressed the issue, allowing full service along the Blue Line corridor to restart.
“Due to (signal) point problem from 1 pm, services could not be run between Dakshineswar and Dumdum stations. Engineering and Signal and Telecom Departments officials attended the point to rectify at the earliest….Point problem has been rectified and normal services over the entire stretch between Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash of Blue Line have resumed from1:45 pm,” he said.
