Kolkata Metro officials have announced that metro services along the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch lying on the  East-West Metro will now be available on Sundays. 

This route comes under Green Line-2, a part of which lies under River Ganga. As of now, a total of 62 trains will be a part of the services on Sundays on an experimental basis.

Operations on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade corridor began in mid-March.

“Services will be available at 15 minutes interval. Total 62 (31 Eastbound + 31 Westbound) Metro services will be run o­n Green Line-2 o­n Sundays o­n experimental basis,” a statement from Kolkata Metro said.

The Sunday service will see trains operating at a 15-minute interval, starting September 1. The first train will leave Esplanade and Howrah Maidan stations at 2:15 pm, an official release said. The final train will depart from both terminal stations at 9:45 p.m.

Kolkata Metro: Orange Line

Recently, the Kolkata Metro decided to increase the frequency of its trains on the Orange Line (New Garia-Ruby More stretch). Starting August 5, it increased the number of metro trains, running five days a week from Monday to Friday. Prior to that, 48 trains operated fove days a week on the Orange Line. In the latest move, the number was increased to 74 trains on an experimental basis. Services on this route will not be available on Saturdays and Sundays
