Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced plans to extend Hyderabad Metro Rail connectivity to Medchal and Shameerpet, aiming to enhance transport options for the city’s northern outskirts. Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy confirmed on Wednesday that the Chief Minister directed officials to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the new corridors.

As a New Year gift to North Hyderabad residents, the CM approved the development of two key Metro corridors: Paradise-Medchal (23 kilometers) and JBS-Shameerpet (22 kilometers). According to a statement from HAML, the DPRs will be part of Metro Rail Phase-2 Part-‘B’ and will be submitted to the Central government for approval.

The Paradise-Medchal corridor will span approximately 23 kilometers, connecting areas such as Tadband, Bowenpally, Suchitra Circle, Kompally, and Kandlakoya, culminating near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) exit. The JBS-Shameerpet route will cover around 22 kilometers and pass through localities like Tirumalagiri, Lothukunta, Alwal, Bollaram, and Hakimpet.

During a meeting with Municipal Administration Principal Secretary M Dana Kishore and HAML MD, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of fast-tracking the project. He instructed the DPR preparation to be completed within three months for state government approval.

Like Phase-2 ‘A’, this extension will be formulated as a joint venture between the Central and state governments. HAML MD NVS Reddy confirmed that work on the DPRs and related documentation has already begun.
