Pune Metro emerges as top choice for Ganeshotsav commuters
During the Ganeshotsav festival, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad residents displayed a strong preference for the metro as their chosen mode of transportation. Statistics indicate a remarkable 9.61 lakh riders who opted for the metro during the period from Ganesh Chaturthi on September 18 to Anant Chaturdashi on September 28, resulting in a substantial revenue of Rs 1.41 crore.
The data highlights that a total of 4,05,280 passengers commuted between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Civil Court stations, contributing to a revenue of Rs 63,23,718. Additionally, 5,56,082 individuals traveled between Vanaz and Ruby Hall Clinic stations, generating an income of Rs 77,47,336.
September 28 stands out as a noteworthy day, recording a ridership of 1,63,227 and earning Rs 25,48,384. This achievement was further accentuated by the metro extending its service until 2 am to accommodate Ganpati Visarjan festivities.
It is worth noting, however, that the ridership and revenue figures for this period still fall slightly behind those recorded on August 15 (Independence Day). On that particular day alone, the Pune Metro registered 1,69,512 riders and revenue of Rs 30,63,350.
