The Delhi Metro on Friday unveiled an indigenous Crew Management System (CMS) software tailored for its 1200 train operators and associated tasks. This system will eradicate the necessity for manual updates, resulting in an annual saving of five lakh paper pages.
DMRC’s move to save trees
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) managing director Vikas Kumar launched the CMS at Yamuna Bank Metro station. Other senior officers were present during the inauguration. As per DMRC, the CMS will lead to an elimination of manual updates and register maintenance will reduce time and effort, which will result in saving approximately five lakh pages annually, equivalent to preserving 417 trees.
According to a statement from the DMRC, the CMS, an advanced automated solution, will enhance efficiency in day-to-day operations for train operators. This will be achieved through specially designed and developed kiosks installed at 14 crew control centers throughout the network.
The move will allow train operators to digitally sign on and off duty, have instant breath analyser tests, biometric attendance and have their live photo captured, enhancing efficiency and accuracy, DMRC added.
It highlighted that the system will revolutionise numerous processes such as roster duties, leave requests, line defects, staff claims and grievances.
The CMS operates in both online and offline modes, accessible via web, kiosk, and mobile applications. Its real-time reporting features, enabled by this innovative technology, empower line supervisors or train operators to promptly alert relevant authorities about any defects or issues concerning rolling stock, track, OHE, and civil works.
On Thursday, the DMRC introduced a Public Complaint Management System (PCMS), a software designed to streamline and enhance its customer grievance management process by analysing the nature of complaints and the extent to which they are resolved satisfactorily.
