Toll collection has finally started at the Bijwasan Plaza on the Delhi Gurugram Dwarka Expressway. From Sunday onward, all vehicles crossing the Delhi-Haryana border via this expressway will have to pay the toll. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has released the full list of toll rates.
This plaza will now directly connect with the Kherki Daula toll. So anyone driving from Delhi to Gurugram will need to pay at both plazas through FASTag. There are some discounts in place, and a few strict rules as well.
Toll collection begins on Dwarka Expressway
Officials have made it clear that overloaded vehicles will not be spared. If a vehicle is found carrying more weight than the legally allowed limit, the driver will have to pay ten times the normal toll amount, according to Navbharat Times. They will only be allowed to move ahead after removing the extra load.
The ministry has also started a joint arrangement between the Dwarka Expressway Bijwasan Plaza and the Kherki Daula toll. The idea is to make commuting easier for people who cross both tolls in the same direction within 24 hours.
If your vehicle passes through both tolls in the same direction within a day, you only pay the difference the second time. FASTag will take care of this automatically, so you won’t be charged more than necessary.
Discounts for regular travellers
According to the report from Navbharat Times, drivers who use the road often will get some relief. There is a 25 percent discount for daily travel. People who travel 50 times in a month get around 33 percent off. Private vehicle owners living within 20 km of the toll plaza can get a monthly pass for just Rs 340. Commercial vehicles will get a 50 percent discount. The annual pass for a private car, jeep or van is Rs 3000. It covers 200 trips or one year.
One major change is for people travelling towards the airport. Drivers going from Delhi or Gurugram to the airport through NH 48 will no longer have to pay toll tax. The toll plaza near the airport has been shut down. All toll-related details and passes are available on the Highway Yatra app and the NHAI website.
