The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday (March 11) announced that it has won a Transport Ticketing Global – 2024 award. According to the information shared by the Delhi Metro, the event draws organizations from around the globe.
“The Delhi Metro recently won the prestigious Highly Commended Award under the Digital Champion category in Transport Ticketing Global – 2024 in London. This award is a global recognition of the various digital ticketing initiatives taken by the DMRC in the last couple of years,” DMRC said in a tweet.
“This annual event attracts organisations from the transportation sector from across the world,” it added.
DMRC’s daily ridership soars to 60 lakh
Delhi Finance Minister Atishi emphasized the substantial rise in ridership, noting an increase from 24 lakh to over 60 lakh daily passengers since 2014. The metro’s accessibility has expanded to include key border points such as Tikri, Samaypur, Badarpur, and Shiv Vihar, reaching every corner of the city.
The Delhi Metro, India’s largest and busiest rapid transit system, has undergone remarkable expansion in recent years. Initially covering a network of 193 kilometers with 143 stations in March 2015, it has now doubled in length to 393 kilometers, serving 288 stations across the capital region.
