The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed an agreement with Beckhaul Digital Technologies Private Limited to boost internet connectivity across all its corridors, according to an official statement released on Friday.
As part of this initiative, the company will install 700 km of fiber optic cables along all metro lines, including the Airport Line. The rollout will be carried out in phases, with the Pink and Magenta Lines set to go live first. The remaining corridors are expected to be connected within the next six months.
The new fiber network will serve as the backbone for high-speed internet, supporting telecom companies, internet service providers, data centres, and smart city projects. It will also facilitate the seamless rollout of 5G services across Delhi-NCR.
This project aligns with the Indian government’s vision of creating a digitally connected nation. It aims to help telecom providers deliver faster, more reliable internet while enabling DMRC to optimise its existing infrastructure. With the growing demand for high-speed internet and 5G expansion, the initiative is expected to play a crucial role in making Delhi more connected and future-ready.
