Delhi’s love for its Metro services is not hidden from the world and this love keeps blossoming more and more each time a new Metro station or line joins the growing network. However, right in the midst of the crowd, there is a man who has been expressing his love in the most unique way.

Anil Marwah (63) has been taking the first Metro whenever Delhi has welcomed a new station or line. His unique hobby started when Delhi Metro first started its operations in the city in 2002, The Indian Express reported.

Marwah’s love for Metros

The love Marwah has for Metros dates back to the 90s when he was posted in Tokyo and worked for Japan Airlines. “I would take the Metro often and wonder when this would ever be a reality in India,” Marwah said.

He currently works for a travel agency as a correspondent between the agency and Japan Airlines and finds the daily commute meditative. He refers to travelling by the Metro every day to his office in Connaught Place. “I take the Metro to Shivaji Stadium and like to walk from there,” he said. He even convinces other people to choose public transportation over cars as it’s easier and hassle-free. During his metro rides, Marwah  reads, makes calls, and catches up with work.

Yashobhoomi Metro station

On Sunday, Marwah waited to get on the train at the newly inaugurated Yashobhoomi Metro station in Dwarka’s Sector 25. He carried his records with him. In his bag he carried newspaper clippings, a folder containing all first-day editions of Metro smart cards, and his certificate from the Limca Book of World Records.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the extension of Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 toYashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 station on Sunday.  The station will have three subways, including a 735-metre long subway connecting the station to the Exhibition halls, Convention centre, and Central Arena.
