The Directorate of Education (DoE) has instructed the Delhi government schools to encourage students and teachers to use the Delhi Metro for commute. School principals have been advised to plan activities like guided tours to nearby metro stations and short metro rides for students to make them aware of the benefits of public transportation.
According to a circular issued on Thursday, the DoE underlined the significance of tying up with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to educate students about the environmental advantages of public transport and to promote the Delhi Metro’s services among students and staff members.
Interactive sessions and privacy norms
Schools have been advised to organize 30-minute presentations or interactive sessions on the benefits of using the metro during the morning assemblies or at other times which is suitable. However, these activities should not hinder daily classroom instructions and the privacy of the staff members and students should not be compromised.
The circular also bans the use of cameras, mobile phones, computers, or other devices which could result in the exploitation or harassment of the students during metro trips. Schools have been instructed not to post or upload photos or videos related to the tour on social media without obtaining written permission from the Directorate of Education.
