The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Sunday (May 6) launched its first Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at Sahibabad RRTS station in Ghaziabad, making it operational. The station, located at gate number 1 of the Sahibabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station, features a range of charging units to accommodate various electric vehicle models.

This initiative is part of several measures aimed at improving last-mile connectivity. The fast charging facility enables four-wheelers to be fully charged in just one hour, while the slow charging option allows for a three-hour charge for four-wheelers and one and a half hours for two-wheelers.

Users will have the convenience of paying for electricity consumed per unit through a mobile application, with online payment options available.

All RRTS stations to have EV Charging Station

According to NCRTC’s future plan, EV charging facilities will be expanded to other operational RRTS stations, including Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi Nagar North.

NCRTC has been focused on reducing its environmental impact since the inception of India’s first regional rail project implementation.

In line with this commitment, NCRTC adopted a solar policy in March 2021 to increase the share of renewable energy. The goal is to generate approximately 11 MW peak in-house solar power on the rooftops of stations, depots, and other buildings for non-traction purposes over the next five years.
