The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has launched extended metro train operations on the Purple and Green Lines given New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31, 2024. Trains will operate till 2: 00 AM on January 1, 2025. The last departure from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station (Majestic) is scheduled for 2:40 AM.

As per a statement released by BMRCL, the trains will be available at 10-minute intervals from 11 PM on December 31, 2024. To handle large crowds, entry and exit points from 11 PM onwards will remain closed at the MG Road Metro Station. Passengers can access nearby stations like Cubbon Park and Trinity instead. For travelling, commuters can use their metro cards and standard QR code tickets. Those who are planning to travel from these stations after 11 PM are advised to purchase a return journey paper ticket priced at Rs 50.

To avoid congestion, an advisory has been issued for those planning to travel towards Silk Institute and Whitefield to take trains from Trinity Metro Station whereas those heading towards Madvara and Challaghatta should access Cubbon Park Metro Station.

This extension of metro services has been taken to ensure smooth travel, reduce congestion for the public, and support the spirit of New Year celebrations.

Recently, Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is expected to hike its fares as the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) is all set to submit its recommendation for an increase in ticket price. The FFC has considered public feedback before arriving on this decision, the proposed surge will be between 10 percent to 15 percent.
