VinFast Auto India, the Indian arm of global electric vehicle giant VinFast, has kicked off its retail operations in the country with the inauguration of a showroom in Surat, Gujarat. The showroom will showcase VinFast’s upcoming premium electric SUVs — VF6 and VF7 — and provide a complete suite of services, including product experience, vehicle purchase support, and after-sales assistance.

VinFast’s debut

The retail debut, in partnership with Chandan Car, comes just days ahead of the Vietnamese automaker’s $2-billion manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, which is set for inauguration in the first week of August.“The first VinFast Showroom in Surat, Gujarat is a symbol of our deep commitment to India,” Pham Sanh Chau, CEO, VinFast Asia, said, in a release.

Future Outlook

As part of its expansion roadmap, VinFast plans to establish 35 dealerships across 27-plus cities by the end of this year. Pre-bookings for the VF6 and VF7 opened on July 15. Customers can reserve their preferred SUV either at VinFast showrooms or online via VinFastAuto.in with a fully refundable booking amount of Rs 21,000.Earlier, VinFast has forged strategic tie-ups with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to build a nationwide charging and after-sales service network. The company also partnered with clean-tech firm BatX Energies to drive battery recycling and develop a circular battery value chain.

By combining local assembly, a growing dealer network, charging infrastructure, and tailored EV models, VinFast India aims to emerge as a credible premium EV brand in India’s fast‑growing electric mobility market, directly challenging global newcomers like Tesla as well as established domestic players.

The company is exploring EV charging infrastructure through its subsidiary V‑Green and collaborations with other providers, potentially aiming to qualify under the Indian government’s progressive EV policy, which grants duty incentives for investment‑linked local manufacturing.
