Avenue Supermarts, which runs the D-Mart chain of stores, on Friday said that its standalone revenue for the September quarter (Q2FY26) was Rs 16,218.79 crore, reflecting a 15.43% year-on-year increase from Rs 14,050.32 crore reported a year ago.
Q2 financials reflect consistent sales momentum
The disclosure was made in its business update for the quarter, which was released after market hours on Friday. While the update underscores the company’s consistent sales growth momentum in the competitive grocery retail market, it is sequentially below the 16.2% revenue increase recorded in the June quarter of FY26.
As of September 30, 2025, the total number of DMart stores was 432, including one store at Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, which was currently closed for customers due to reconstruction, it said.
Strategic focus on aggressive store rollout in northern markets
Totally, the first half of FY26 has seen Avenue Supermarts open 14 stores across the country including a key opening in Agra, marking the company’s first major expansion in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most-populous state.
In its analyst call in July, Avenue Supermarts had said that it would double down on store expansion in FY26 with a focus on northern India to counter heightened competition from online and offline retailers.
The Mumbai-headquartered company will add as many as 50 stores this financial year, its CEO & MD Neville Noronha had said, adding that the company saw significant potential in Uttar Pradesh as it sought to expand beyond its traditional markets in the west and south of India. Noronha will step down from his position in January 2026 to make way for CEO-designate Anshul Asawa to take over.
Earlier this week, the company also raised Rs 100 crore in short-term debt to fund its retail expansion. This week alone has seen the company strengthen its presence in Delhi-NCR and Ghaziabad with two new stores each.
