In the bank fraud case, after ED, the CBI has registered a case and is conducting searches in Mumbai at the premises linked to Reliance Communications Ltd (RCOM) and its promoter director, Anil Ambani, reports ANI. Anil Ambani and his family was present at home when the team arrived.
The case involves an alleged bank fraud that caused a loss of Rs 2,000 crore to the State Bank of India.
The CBI raids follow ED’s 10-hour questioning of Anil Ambani on August 5 in connection with a money laundering probe into multiple bank loan frauds worth over Rs 17,000 crore. According to PTI, Ambani had requested 10 days to submit supporting documents, but officials were reportedly unconvinced. Investigators are probing alleged irregularities in loans sanctioned by Yes Bank and suspect diversion of funds through shell companies.
Meanwhile, the ED is examining whether these transactions were routed to evade scrutiny, as the case continues to widen its scope across lenders, corporates, and linked financial entities.
