Reliance Jio is doing well. It”s adding new customers and as Mukesh Ambani confirmed at an event last month that Jio has added 100 million subscribers so far. So things are good and customers are still converting due to the freebies.
But now comes the hard part. Customers who had got used to free services will suddenly have to pay tariffs for the same services. In other words, the party ends on March 31.
However, to soften the blow to the initial customers who had everything free, RJIO has come out with its Prime membership plan where the subscribers will be converting to prime subscribers at some cost. Under this new offer, users will have to pay a certain amount to become a ‘prime’ subscriber. After which there will be separate charges for data consumed by prime and non-prime members. In order to become a Prime member, subscribers need to pay Rs 99 before March 31, and a minimum of Rs 303 per month for the next one year to get unlimited internet. But according to reports, the Prime membership plan is not taking off that well.

There are still many offers like the users can get up to 10 GB of free data on an early recharge and if you are a Jio subscriber and wish to opt for the Rs 149 prepaid plan, you will get 2 GB of data along with unlimited free calls, and then 1 GB of free data. Additionally, under the Rs. 303 plan, you will get 5 GB of free data along with 28 GB of data subscribers are originally entitled to.
All this is fine but many customers will not shift their telecom providers as we still don’t know what may be in store for the future, after all the company has to make it Reliance Jio a viable proposition and offset the loses of the freebies. Besides, we also don’t know whether there will be something similar in store like Reliance Communications with Kar Lo Duniya Muthi Mein tagline. All that hype and the freebies didnot help. Will the same happen to Reliance Jio Infocomm?
