Tata Communications on Monday said it has secured a contract to provide the digital infrastructure for the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), a new body set up by the finance ministry to handle GST-related disputes.
The project covers the principal bench in New Delhi and 31 state benches.
According to the company, the mandate involves creating a “digital fabric” of solutions across network, cloud, internet of things (IoT) and security, with unified management.

Tata Communications, part of Tata Group, said this will help the tribunal automate operations, enable predictive analytics and chatbots, and ensure secure transfer of data. The objective is to improve transparency, streamline processes, and provide seamless access across GSTAT benches nationwide.
Sumeet Walia, executive vice-president and chief sales and marketing officer at Tata Communications, said the project highlights the firm’s role in supporting digital governance.
What did Sumeet Walia say?
“We are honored to partner with the finance ministry and be entrusted with building and managing the digital backbone for GSTAT, a reformative institution in India’s taxation landscape,” Walia said.
“With enhanced transparency and secure infrastructure for institutions like GSTAT, this project aligns with our purpose of supercharging progress and innovation,” he added.
Tata Communications said its selection reflects its track record in executing technology projects of national importance. However, financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
