RK Foodland is a leading Indian supply chain company with decades of experience serving the food industry, including renowned global QSR and FMCG brands. Through a long-standing partnership with Oracle NetSuite, RK Foodland has been able to streamline operations and increase customer satisfaction. Today, we speak with Mr. Roy Louis, Group CTO, to understand RK Foodland’s experience with NetSuite.

Q: Can you tell us about the challenges RK Foodland faced before implementing NetSuite?

A: The business struggled with manual processes because we were using multiple systems that didn’t integrate. We needed a system that could handle the complexities of our business, including serving diverse customers, both service-based and trading oriented, while ensuring efficient internal processes.

Q: How has NetSuite helped RK Foodland address these challenges?

A: NetSuite’s automation capabilities have been a game-changer. It’s resulted in significant savings, both in terms of costs and time. At Foodland, we consistently strive for operational efficiency and leveraging NetSuite’s customization features has contributed to this goal.

Currently NetSuite supports financial accounting (Procure to Pay/ Order to Cash), inventory management, procurement, and work order and assembly processes. The automation of E- Invoicing and E-Way bill processes has substantially reduced the time required to create invoices and streamlined operations across our warehouses. Additionally, automation in accounts receivable and accounts payable processes has led to noticeable time savings in each process, eliminating labor-intensive and error-prone manual procedures.

This has not only translated to significant cost savings but also resulted in a dramatic increase in productivity. We’ve been able to redeploy approximately four full-time equivalent (FTE) positions to focus on value-added tasks.

Q: Beyond cost savings, what are some other benefits RK Foodland has experienced with NetSuite?

A: We’ve seen numerous benefits. NetSuite has showcased exceptional flexibility, empowering our business to win diverse types of customers under varying contract terms. This adaptability has been instrumental in facilitating the onboarding process for both service-based and trading clients, thus enabling us to expand our client base across various locations in India and also outside India.

It’s also improved user experience thanks to simplified financial analysis. It provides valuable insights for making business decisions. Furthermore, it’s enhanced our customer service, leading to increased satisfaction and loyalty.

Q: CIO and CFO collaboration is imperative for growth. How does NetSuite facilitate this collaboration between departments?

By providing a reliable platform for all financial and operational data, NetSuite eliminates the silos that used to exist, and helps with transparency and alignment between IT and finance departments.

Q: What’s next? What other areas of NetSuite are you looking to expand into?

A: We are committed to continuous improvement and NetSuite offers advanced functionality to further enhance efficiency. We plan to implement NetSuite Warehouse Management System (WMS) to optimize inventory management and streamline fulfillment processes. Additionally, we’re embracing more automation in Accounts Payable to further reduce manual effort and ensure timely payments to vendors.

Q: How would you describe the impact of NetSuite on RK Foodland’s overall business growth and strategy?

A: NetSuite has been instrumental in transforming our operations and increasing efficiency. The platform empowers us to achieve operational excellence, optimize resources, and unlock hidden cost savings. This, in turn, fuels productivity and paves the way for sustained growth, allowing us to continue exceeding expectations for our clients. NetSuite is a strategic partner that will continue to play a vital role in our success going forward.
