The board of directors at the national skill development corporation (NSDC) has recently terminated Ved Mani Tiwari as CEO of the quasi-government entity operating under the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE). In a public notice issued on May 16, the NSDC informed that its board of directors, in a meeting held on May 15, has decided to end the services of Tiwari with effect from May 16.

“This is for the information of the general public that, as decided by the board of directors of NSDC in its meeting held on 15th May 2025, Ved Mani Tiwari is no longer employed or associated in any other way with NSDC or any of its affiliates with effect from 16th May 2025,” the official statement said. The 13-member board didn’t cite the reasons for the termination of his services.

Tiwari, who was the CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, joined the organisation in March 2021. Prior to that, he had worked with Welspun Group, Sterlite Power, Kochi Metro Rail, ministry of railways, and others.

NSDC is a not-for-profit public limited company established in 2008. It operates as a public private partnership (PPP) in which the government holds 49% stake while the private sector holds the remaining 51%.

NSDC is addressing the skill-set gap in the Indian workforce. Even though its mission was to skill or upskill 25 million individuals by 2025; the body has already onboarded 40.3 million, with 12.9 million coming from socio-economic disadvantaged groups. NSDC, now has over 40,000 skilling centres across the country with a target to reach 50,000 this year.
