Reliance Industries’ consumer arm, Reliance Consumer Products (RCPL), has entered the fast-growing healthy functional beverage market. The company has acquired a majority stake in a joint venture with Bengaluru-based Naturedge Beverages, known for its herbal and natural drink brand Shunya.

Reliance Consumer Products is tapping Ayurveda to grow functional beverage portfolio

With this partnership, RCPL aims to expand its presence as a total beverage company by offering consumers a wider range of herbal-natural functional beverages. The market for such drinks is witnessing rapid growth, fuelled by rising demand for healthier, natural alternatives.

Naturedge combines Ayurveda with modern beverage choices. Its flagship product is Shunya, a zero-sugar, zero-calorie drink infused with super herbs such as ashwagandha, brahmi, kokum, khus and green tea.

Ketan Mody, Executive Director, RCPL, said the partnership will strengthen the company’s beverage portfolio. “It strengthens our beverage portfolio with the addition of health-focused functional drinks, inspired by Ayurveda. Within a very short span of time, Shunya has gained wide popularity among health-conscious consumers, as it offers the benefits of herbs in contemporary formats,” Mody said.

Siddhesh Sharma, Director of Naturedge Beverages, said that the partnership with RCPL is a testament to Shunya’s rapidly growing acceptability among consumers. “With our visions aligned on turning Shunya into a pan-India brand, this is a win-win for us,” Sharma said.

He noted that ingredients like ashwagandha and brahmi act as natural stress relievers and help boost stamina and focus, making them relevant for today’s hectic lifestyles.

RCPL is Expanding its beverage portfolio

Since its launch in 2022, Reliance Consumer Products has been expanding its beverages business with the revival of Campa, the launch of Campa Energy and the fruit-based drink Raskik. With Shunya now in its fold, RCPL plans to grow its healthy offerings further, including energy drinks, herb-infused water, and energy shots.
