Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) on Thursday announced Rohit Jawa will be stepping down as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of the company, effective close of business hours of 31st July, 2025. In his resignation letter, Jawa said that he has decided to pursue the next chapter in his personal and professional journey.
In a regulatory filing, HUL said, “…based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, approved the appointment of Ms Priya Nair as the MD & CEO of the Company for a term of 5 (five) consecutive years with effect from 1st August, 2025 till 31st July, 2030, in succession to Mr Rohit Jawa. The appointment of Ms Priya Nair as the MD & CEO will be subject to approval of Shareholders and other statutory approvals as may be applicable.”
In his resignation letter, Rohit Jawa said, “I would like to inform the Board that I will be stepping down and demitting office as the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of the Company, effective close of business hours on 31st July 2025, pursuant to mutual agreement.”
He was appointed as a Director on the Board of HUL with effect from 1st April 2023 and designated as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer effective 27th June 2023. During his tenure of over two years, HUL said, the company delivered volume-led competitive growth.
HUL appoints Priya Nair as MD & CEO
Meanwhile, the FMCG major has appointed Priya Nair, currently President, Beauty & Wellbeing, Unilever, as the MD and CEO of the company effective 1st August 2025. She will also join the HUL board, and will continue to be a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE).
Nitin Paranjpe, Chairman HUL, said, “Priya has had an outstanding career in HUL and Unilever. I am certain that with her deep understanding of the Indian market and excellent track record, Priya will take HUL to the next level of performance.”
Priya Nair had joined HUL in 1995 and held several sales and marketing roles across Home Care, Beauty & Wellbeing, and Personal Care businesses. She was later appointed as the Executive Director, Home Care, HUL between 2014 and 2020, thereafter, the Executive Director, Beauty & Personal Care, HUL from 2020 to 2022.
Subsequently, Nair went on to become the Global Chief Marketing Officer, Beauty & Wellbeing at Unilever. Since 2023, Priya has been acting as the President of Beauty & Wellbeing, which is also one of Unilever’s fastest growing businesses.
