Jet Airways on Wednesday reported a 25.4% increase in standalone net profit to Rs 87.59 crore, as the company gained on lower aircraft fuel expenses on the back of a global slide in crude prices. Its profit for the same quarter a year earlier was at Rs 69.82 crore.
During the July-September quarter, its sales increased by 10.2% to Rs 5257.97 crore from Rs 4,772.25 crore, the Mumbai-based airlines company said in a filing to the stock exchanges.
Jet Airways’ fiscal second-quarter profits were boosted by lower fuel expenses which declined 27.6% to Rs 1,336.61 crore from a year earlier, during the quarter through September, even as its total expenses grew a marginal 1.1% to Rs 5,095.53 crore, the company said.

Jet appoints Kuldeep Sharma as Company Secretary
Private carrier Jet Airways today announced the appointment of Kuldeep Sharma as its company secretary and vice president for corporate governance and compliance.
Sharma’s appointment to the new position comes with immediate effect, Jet Airways said in a regulatory filing today.
Further, Sharma has been designated as the compliance officer under clause 47 of the Listing Agreement, the airline said.
Sharma had joined the Mumbai-based carrier in Janaury this year as head of corporate governance and compliance after parting ways with Kishore Biyani-led Future Lifestyle Fashions Limited.
