Ahead of the Black Friday shopping weekend, vendors from India are gearing up for the additional traffic; the sale starts on Friday and will continue till Cyber Monday on November 30.

Amazon.com has enabled over 5,000 Indian vendors on its platform to hawk their products in the US market during the period. Indian sellers were first introduced to the Amazon’s global platform in May and over the last seven months the number has increased from 200 to 5,000, according to a statement by Amazon. Indian sellers are optimistic regarding the festive weekend as they expect a spike of 30-40% from their regular sales on the platform.

According to Amazon, nearly 100,000 products among electronics, cookware, clothing, luxury products, Indian handicrafts, brass idols, home décor, etc have been shipped to its fulfillment centers in US ahead of the shopping festivals to facilitate one-day delivery via Amazon Prime.

During the Diwali Season sale in India, Amazon.in was able to achieve one-day delivery and other premium deliveries for over 1 million products. “Our premium shipment orders spiked by 300% over our daily run rate,” said a statement by Amazon. Mumbai-based seller Dyaan of Yogi Sports said, “We are expecting to garner between $ 5,000-7,000 worth of sales by the end of the season sale on Cyber Monday. Further, being listed as prime seller on Amazon.com helps us gain consumers’ trust in the US market.”

Pooja Agarwal is another the proprietor at Kishna Exports, $ 30 million export house based in Jaipur expect 30-40% rise in sales. Agarwal said that on a regular day she is sells between 15-20 units of merchandise on Amazon but is expecting the number to spike during the season sale in US.

Krishna Ishwar, manufacturer of bed sheets from Indore-based Raj Linen also shared a positive sentiment on the Black Friday Weekend sale on Amazon and said that he expects sales worth $ 50,000 with 750 units sold during the course of four days against weekly sales of $16,000 with 250 units, which it sold previous week.

The four-day shopping festival marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping in US. According to a report by The Statistics Portal, 47% of the Christmas shopping is done online in US. In 2015, US retail e-commerce holiday season sale is expected to clock $ 79.4 billion, a 13.9% increase from the previous year, the report added.
