In the ongoing Rising Northeast summit, prominent Indian companies like Reliance, Adani, and Vedanta have announced significant investments in the northeastern states. While Reliance has announced to double its investment to Rs 75,000 crore, Vedanta and Adani Group have announced to invest Rs 80,000 crore and Rs 50,000 crore in the region.
Reliance to double its investment
Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, said that in the past 40 years, the company has invested about Rs 30,000 crore in the region. He said that in the next 5 years, the company is planning to double its investment to Rs 75,000 crore.
Additionally, Ambani said that Reliance Retail is going to increase the procurement of fruits and vegetables from the region. The company will also invest in setting up factories for manufacturing FMCG products.
Vedanta to invest Rs 80000 crore
Verdanta has announced a Rs 80,000 crore investment in the Northeastern states. The company will invest in the sectors of oil and gas, power, critical minerals, renewable energy, and transmission.
The company announced an investment of Rs 30,000 crore in the region at the Rising Northeast Summit. Earlier last month, the company had announced an investment of Rs 50,000 crore in Assam.
The company said that the proposed investment will generate about 1 lakh jobs in the region. “Vedanta is fully committed to investment in the region, which has the most amazing natural resources potential, from oil and gas to critical minerals and an exceptional pool of talented human resources”, Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta, said in a statement.
Adani to invest Rs 50,000 crore
Gautam Adani said that the Adani group will invest Rs 50,000 crore over the period of 10 years. He said that the company’s focus of investment will be green energy, road infrastructure, and creating a digital infrastructure in the region.
The investment announcement from Adani comes on top of the already pledged Rs 50000 crore investment in Assam. The investment includes projects such as pump storage, power transmission, logistics, and capacity building.
