Tata Communications and Cisco have strengthened their partnership to launch Webex Calling with cloud Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) for enterprises in India. The service integrates with Tata Communications’ cloud voice services on the GlobalRapide platform.

This offering is part of Cisco’s global product Webex Calling, now specially tuned for India in partnership with Tata Communications. This collaboration aims to transform business communications, leveraging cloud technology and AI.

Webex Calling offers a business phone system with enterprise-grade calling through a cloud platform, serving over 14 million users worldwide. The integration aims to enhance connectivity and collaboration in the Indian market, providing flexible deployment options and centralized administration, along with AI-driven collaboration tools and devices.

Daisy Chittilapilly, President of Cisco India & SAARC, stated, “Hybrid work has heightened the need for enterprises to deliver seamless, secure, and reliable collaboration experiences. Webex Calling simplifies businesses’ cloud transition through flexible migration choices, top-notch reliability, and AI-driven collaboration tools and devices. We are confident that Webex Calling by Tata Communications will empower businesses to thrive with hybrid work and deliver an unparalleled experience for customers.”

The product enables enterprises to scale their communication infrastructure in compliance with Indian laws, without upfront server hardware investments. Users will have access to additional collaboration workloads in the Webex Suite, such as meetings, messaging, and webinars, along with AI-powered features like audio intelligence.

Amey Parandekar, VP, Product Management, Cisco, explained the features of the product, “Webex Calling is not just about internal company calls but about handling customer interactions efficiently. With AI, calls can be recorded, and summaries are available immediately. Our platform includes a small call center feature, allowing sales agents to handle customer calls effectively. Additionally, we offer real-time AI to cancel background noise and ensure clear audio, which is unique in the industry.”

Discussing development challenges, Parandekar said, “One of the reasons we partnered with Tata Communications is their extensive knowledge of the Indian market and customer challenges. Together, we meet all telecom regulations in India.”

The partnership between Tata Communications and Cisco has evolved over 20 years. Looking ahead, further collaboration is expected to introduce new features and offers that benefit joint customers globally.
