Hyderabad-based defence PSU Bharat Dynamics has bagged an order worth Rs 809 crore (gross) from Armoured Vehicles Nigam (AVNL) for the supply of an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).
The company said in a regulatory filing on Thursday that it has received this contract from a domestic entity and the order has to be completed over a period of three years.
Details of the deal confidential due to national security
While the company did not disclose the specific missile system involved or further details of the deal, it said that the terms and conditions are confidential in view of national security.
In its exchange filing, BDL confirmed that neither the promoter nor the promoter group or related entities have any interest in AVNL. It also clarified that the contract is not a related party transaction.
Strengthening India’s defence manufacturing
The order adds to BDL’s growing role in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem under the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The contract from AVNL, a state-run entity under the Ministry of Defence, underscores ongoing efforts to ramp up indigenous missile production to meet the operational requirements of the armed forces.

- Earlier on March 26, Bharat Dynamics secured a major Rs 4,362.23 crore defence contract from the Ministry of Defence for supplying armaments to the armed forces.
- On January 16, 2025,It secured a Rs 2,960 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (MRSAM) to the Indian Navy.
